About Us

Texas Gorda is a coastal hat and apparel designer and manufacturer in South Texas.

We are a husband/wife duo, working together with our sons to develop our small family business that we are proud to share with our local community.

People always ask us, what is "Texas Gorda" ?

Well, initially this was the name for our jeep! A big, 4 door Jeep Wrangler Rubicon with mud grip tires that we bought for beach weekends, hurricane escaping and backroads riding! We named our jeep our Texas "Gorda", which also translates from Spanish as our "big girl".

We drew and designed our "Gorda Girl" logo for the exterior customization of our jeep and made a few custom hats with the logo as well.

Soon, others were asking to order these hats, and this is how Texas Gorda began.

On another note, our hometown community is Matagorda County, which locals refer to as simply "Gorda".

So, it's a little play on words, but Texas Gorda refers to both our Gorda Girl and our roots in local 'Gorda County 💙
